Have you often wondered where graduates end up after they finish at the School of Horticulture? Or curious what career options are available in the industry? In our monthly series we’ll highlight a different graduate every month to showcase the diversity. We’ll be sharing the full inside look here on our website!

Say Hello to Jeffery Bax, Class of 1997!

Natures Own, Project Manager

&

Niagara College, Landscape Teacher

” You need to love and have passion for your job and have a good work environment.”

Q: Please provide a brief description of what your current work entails and what aspect of your job you are most passionate about and why.

A: At Nature’s Own: Work on high end landscapes from start to finish. At Niagara College: Teach first and second years the skills they need to be a professional landscaper

Q: How would you describe your experience entering the industry after graduation?

A: The school gave me the basic information which I used as a foundation to learn more in the field

Q: What challenges have you faced and overcome in your career after graduation?

A: Learning that money and greed is not everything.  You need to love and have passion for your job and have a good work environment.  I overcame that by moving to a different company after 27 years where positive work attitude is displayed

Q: What is a fond memory from your days at the gardens?

A: The great work ethic class of 97 had completed all the tasks.  Had fun doing them but still got the job done fast.

Thank you Jeffery for sharing and thank you for helping teach the next generation!
