Say Hello to Chris Puhach, Class of 2013!
Q: Where do you currently work and what position do you hold?
A: Gardener at the Town of Oakville
“As a gardener you are given an area that you are responsible for and given free rein on what needs to be done to the parks in your area. You get to design annual beds, shrub beds, install and maintain them as needed. I’m most passionate about the positive interactions with the general public and how they always ask questions because they see us doing good work that will have a positive impact on the environment and what to know more so they can do the same at home.”

Q: How would you describe your experience entering the industry after graduation?
A: “Nerve wracking but also a fairly smooth transition. The school had me pretty well prepared for entering the industry.”
Q: What challenges have you faced and overcome in your career after graduation?
A: “Just overall adapting from school/student life to working in the industry. It’s a very different pace of work and there is very little room for error because we use taxpayer money and have to use it wisely and not waste it.”

A: Liriodendron tulipifera
