SUMMARY:2026 Annual Members Meeting
DESCRIPTION:    \nWhat: Foundation AMM & Association AGM \nWhen:  11am- 12pm & 12pm – 1:30pm \nWhere: Hybrid School of Horticulture\, Lecture Hall / Zoom \nJoin Zoom Meeting\nhttps://us06web.zoom.us/j/84918949372?pwd=u21rFlRjGOANEDkFdTbigj0DYNKxMJ.1 \n  \nPlans are underway for us to Hold Our 2026 Alumni Association\, Niagara Parks Commission\, School of Horticulture Foundation Annual Members Meeting on Saturday\, February 21st from 11:00am to 12noon.   \nAnd The Alumni Association plan on holding their Annual General Meeting from 12 noon until 1:30pm (Eastern Standard Time).   \n  \nThis Year will be a first time we’ve arranged a Hybrid Meeting\,  where we are inviting individuals to join us in person within the warm confines of the Lecture Hall at the School OR virtually via the attached Link shown below if you are unable to make it to the School.   \n For those that will be joining us in person\, please let Michael McClellan know by Thursday\, February 19th since we’ll need to know what to bring as far as coffee\, tea\, juices\, bottled water.  We’ll include some tasty and freshly made muffins as well.  There will be no charge for this but just let me know ahead of time with a call\, text or email\, \n  “I plan to attend and would Love a cup of java and one of those muffins”  \nAs noted at Our Last Annual Meeting of Members on May 22nd of last year\, we’d like You to think of these as a Town Hall.  Our intent will be to give everyone the opportunity to ask questions.  We will do our very best to make You feel Welcome and create Dialogue and Discussion.  Your Alumni Boards want to tell You a little about what we’ve been up to over the course of 2025\, and so far in 2026 as well as what we have planned for the rest of the Year.  It’s an Exciting Time as this is the School’s 90th Year Anniversary.  \n  \nAdditional Information \nThere are Two (2) Alumni Association Boards; \n  \n\nThe Alumni Association of The Niagara Parks Commission School of Horticulture was founded in 1947.  It’s a diverse group of graduates who celebrate their affiliation with the Niagara Parks Commission School of Horticulture through a variety of programs and services designed to support members\, the School\, and the highest professional standards of horticulture.  The Association Board consists of the immediate Past President\, and 9 Directors elected from/by active members at The Annual Meeting. \n\n  \n\nThe Alumni Association Niagara Parks Commission School of Horticulture Foundation Board.  The original Board was formed in 1982.  Our Primary Job is to Administer Alumni Association Scholarships\, Bursaries and Awards to assist Undergraduate and Graduate students of Our Beloved Niagara Parks School of Horticulture\, and serve for financial donations or bequests received from Alumni and others.  We also organize and hold various Fundraising events to supplement existing funds and Donations used to promote Horticultural Education and Projects such as the Recognition Garden.  The Foundation Board consists of 7 Directors elected from/by active members at The Annual Meeting. \n\n  \nPlease note that Both Alumni Boards are always looking for Graduates to step up for Board Positions.   If You’re looking for a way to stay connected and make a meaningful impact…Serving on the Alumni Board is a great opportunity to support fellow graduates\, strengthen the Alumni community\, and help shape the future of our institution—while building leadership experience along the way. \n  \nWe will be Happy to send You a Copy of each of the Agendas and The Treasurer’s Reports.  Just say the Word and let us know which Agenda and Treasurer’s Reports You are interested in obtaining. \n  \nSince Covid hit back in 2020\, we’ve been having these annual meetings virtually.  An Annual General Meeting (AGM) for a non-profit organization is a statutory requirement in Canada\, mandated by both federal and provincial legislation. It’s a formal gathering of members where they review the organization’s past performance\, approve financial statements\, elect board members and discuss future directions.  \nSince we organize both Annual Meetings of the Alumni Foundation and the Alumni Association one after the other\, we refer to one as the Annual Meeting of Members (AMM) for the Foundation and the Annual General Meeting (AGM) for the Association.   To ensure we’re following procedural guidelines\, we’ve scheduled these Meetings as noted above for Saturday\, February 21st.    \n11:00AM-12:00Noon ET  – Alumni Foundation AMM \n12:00-1:30PM ET -Alumni Association AGM           \nJoin Zoom Meeting\nhttps://us06web.zoom.us/j/84918949372?pwd=u21rFlRjGOANEDkFdTbigj0DYNKxMJ.1 \n

SUMMARY:75th Anniversary Celebration & Recognition Garden Groundbreaking\, August 26th-27th 2022
DESCRIPTION:In The Garden We Grow!\nAugust 26th-27th\, 2022\nRegister Now! \nWe are pleased to announce the 75th Anniversary Celebration of the Alumni Association. We have come a long way and it’s time to celebrate all that we have accomplished as students\, graduates\, and alumni. Along with the 75th anniversary comes the exciting ground breaking of a new garden project. Alumni\, Students\, and the Niagara Parks Commission have been busy creating a plan for a new garden space that focuses on recognizing people who have made significant contributions to the school\, gardens\, and alumni alike. The Recognition Garden plans will be reviewed along with a call for donations to make the project happen. Please consider making a donation to the Recognition Garden fund [Donate Now] or reach out to Art Coles if you would like to discuss funding options further [colesa64@gmail.com] \nThe 75th Celebration is a time to celebrate\, reflect\, and of course socialize with others who like you pulled weeds\, made friends\, and enjoyed the gardens during the years spent at the School of Horticulture and Botanical Gardens. It’s amazing to think of the changes that have occurred on the grounds and to the school program. One thing that has not changed and will surely not change in the future is the impact we all have on the gardens as students and afterwards as alumni. The Alumni Association and Foundation have a special relationship with the school and the grounds. This is something we hope to represent with the 75th Anniversary Celebration and Recognition Garden. \nAGENDA\nFriday August 26th\n5-8 pm Cocktail Hour \n\nDrink service on top of the Butterfly Conservatory [fee for drink purchases]\nLive Music\n2023 West Coast Conference Announcement\nSilent Auction \n\nSaturday August 27th\n12-1 pm Recognition Garden Groundbreaking \n\nDesign Review and garden opening Presented by the Niagara Parks Commission\, the Alumni Association (Shade Garden/White Garden Area)\n\n1-4 pm Lunch with Lawn Games\, School Memorabilia & Guided Garden Tours \n\nCatered Lunch – back of residence building lawn area (registration required to account for numbers)\nOpportunities for review of the Garden Plan Information Centre and to make donations\nSOH Photo Display – historical to present day photos of student life and the gardens (OLH)\nCasual\, family friendly lawn games \nSWAG/Promo material available for purchase (paid members receive 10% off)\nGroup photo\nRaffle (TBD)\nStudent Led Garden Tours (1pm\, 2pm\, 3pm)\n\n4-6:00 pm Free Time \n\nFree time to get dinner\, walk the gardens\, view memorabilia and garden plan information etc.\n\n6:00-8pm Garden Gathering Social (OLH) \n\nCasual gathering in and behind Old Lecture Hall\n\n  \nRSVP for Friday’s cocktail hour (free).  Register/Purchase tickets for Saturday’s events ($35 for non-active members\, $25 for active members and spouses of active members.
